PD - Teachers??
Any practices or programs going on for Professional Development of Teachers?
We're kind of seeing/believing more and more of the old ACOT (Apple Classroom of Tomorrow) research when it comes to technology integration - actually every PD effort. Simply stated, and it is more complicated, there is a slightly skewed "bell curve" in regards adoption by teachers/people.
•15% - give them the goodies and watch out - they'll develop the instructional practice and help pull the 65% below along - no PD. •65% - will move when the above 15% works out the kinks and establishes the value added from a teacher's perspective - lots of PD. •20% - the NFW'ers - No Friggin' Way - Really doesn't matter what you do, they're not moving, unless their students push them along (use GenYes). Don't waste your time with PD - they don't want it anyhow.
So, you have to differentiate your PD, from none to lots. Our 15%'ers got the online collaboration gig going, and now we're seeing it penetrate the 65%'ers where we have to do a lot of PD - moves at various rates depending on the perceived and real value added.
